We're seeking a highly skilled Principal Site Reliability Engineer for our Core Systems team. This position is available hybrid in London or as a remote role within the UK.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership and Strategy

• Influence iwoca's technology strategy to enhance system reliability.
• Lead initiatives for adopting new practices and tools to improve our engineering culture towards proactive reliability.

Project Involvement

• Conduct load, performance, and stress tests on our bespoke modelling systems.
• Collaborate with development teams to design and implement controls like request killers and circuit breakers.
• Optimize database configurations to minimize the impact of resource-heavy queries.

Requirements

• Proven experience in designing, building, and scaling data-intensive systems, preferably with knowledge in Kubernetes, PostgreSQL hosted in AWS RDS, and Snowflake.
• Experience in shaping incident response processes and on-call practices across multiple teams.
• Deep understanding of site reliability engineering principles applied to databases and infrastructure.
• Skills in infrastructure automation, including monitoring and alerting for pipelines.
